Penrith is a seamless cardigan worked from the top down with set in sleeves. It features simple cables on the fronts, sleeves and each side of an eye-catching cable in the centre of the back. Both charted and written directions are provided for the cable patterns.

Stitches are cast on for the back using a provisional cast on method, the shoulders are shaped using short rows and the piece is worked down to the underarm. Front pieces are picked up from the shoulders, the shoulders and neckline are shaped and the pieces are worked down to the underarm. The front and back pieces are joined and the body is worked down in one piece with shaping. Stitches are picked up from the armholes, the sleeve caps are shaped using short rows and the sleeves are knit down in the round. Finally, stitches are picked up to work the button band.
